New Print App

A useful new Print App has been made available for free on the iTunes and Google Play stores, called Print Apply.

"Print Apply gives print professionals and graphic designers instant access to a variety of information and data they use daily, such as a paper weight reference chart, proportion wheel, envelope sizing chart, fraction converter, spine width calculator and much more.

Print Apply is the only mobile application licensed by the FSC and SFI to promote the use of Certified papers."

NSW Print Excellence Awards 2009

4 Medals to Bright Print Group

On 13th November, 2009, the Workcover 2009 NSW Print Excellence Awards were held at Doltone House, Pyrmont. With over 420 entries, this year’s awards were hotly contested.

It is pleasing to advise the Bright Print Group won a staggering 4 medals and received 3 commendations. Our award haul is excellent and satisfying recognition of the superior quality of work produced by the entire team at Bright Print Group. 
All Gold medal winners at the NSW Awards go on to contest the National Awards in March, 2010.

Sustainable Green Print - Level 3

BPG First Company in NSW to receive Level 3 SGP Certification

sgp_level_3_ppc.gifIn 2009, we continued our quest to develop best practice in terms of our environmental policies and procedures. To this end we sought out and received certification to the Printing Industries Association of Australia's Sustainable Green Print.

BPG were the second company in Australia and first in NSW to to achieve this level of certification. The certification is printing industry specific and very rigorous in its reporting requirements of efficiency programs and waste streams in particular.


Important Workcover Agreement Signed

Official launch of the 'OHS Partnership Agreement' between Printing Industry Association (PIAA) and WorkCover NSW

On Friday, 8th May, 2009, Bright Print played host to the signing of an important agreement between Workcover NSW and the Printing Industries Association of Australia (PIAA). The Agreement, which has been in negotiation for over 12 months, signifies an important partnership between the two bodies. The Agreement was officially signed on behalf of the NSW Government by the Hon. Joseph Tripodi MP, Minister for Finance, Minister for Infrastructure, Minister for Regulatory Reform and Minister for Ports and Waterways, and on behalf of the PIAA, Mr Phillip Andersen, CEO.

The Hon Mr Tripodi and Mr Anderson were joined in this ceremony by the Local Member for Smithfield, Mr Ninos Khoshaba, and other officials from Workcover and PIAA. A number of staff from Bright Print were also present.

The Bright Print Group feel very privileged to have been asked to host such an important occasion, and welcomed the opportunity to showcase our facilities to our VIP guests. Here are some of the photos from this momentous occasion.

Programme to Increase Industry Safety Launched

The anticipated partnership programme between WorkCover and Printing Industries was launched last week and will target key areas such as injury management and workplace consultation to assist businesses to deliver sustainable occupational health and safety outcomes.

The 12 month partnership will include tailored workshops and advisory visits by WorkCover staff to businesses in the printing industry and will include around than 1500 printing businesses throughout NSW.

Finance Minister, Joe Tripodi said, “The aim of the programme is to help printing businesses achieve greater workplace safety results, improved risk assessment and better injury management through the delivery of practical information as well as the development of a occupational health and safety Resource Centre on PIAA’s web site.”

Meanwhile, Philip Andersen, CEO of Printing Industries said the partnership – which was launched at Bright Print in Wetherill Park – was a very important step in assisting business sustainability.

Andersen said, “I commend WorkCover on its foresight in wanting to work with industry to identify and minimise safety issue risks. That’s in everyone’s best interests. It’s smart business for companies and for the government.”

He continues, “Our industry is facing many challenges ranging from perceptions about its environmental credentials and ability to attract talented young people, to keeping pace with technological change and coping with the global economic crisis. This partnership will help answer some of those challenges.”

Quest to be Best Certification

BPG Initiates Company Wide Training
in Competitive Manufacturing

Company wide training – Quest to be the Best Certification – otherwise known as Certificate III and IV in Competitive Manufacturing

In 2009, all employees within the Bright Print Group (currently around 100) will be embarking on a nationally qualified training programme known as Certificate III or IV in Competitive Manufacturing. The objective of the training is to enable all employees to learn about, and work within a framework of lean manufacturing principles.

The programme will commence with a company wide diagnostic that will look at the following:

  • Improvement opportunities
  • Development of SMART goals
  • Determination of suitable training projects
  • Performance review targets
  • Change Management Plan

The Certification course comprises the following modules:

  • MSACMS200A – Apply Competitive Manufacturing Practices
  • MSACMC210A – Manage the impact of change on own work
  • MSACMT430A – Improve cost factors to work practices
  • MSAPMSUP390A – Use structured problem solving tools
  • MSACM451A – Mistake Proof a Production process
  • MSACMT482A – Assist in implementing a proactive maintenance strategy
  • MSACMT240A Apply 5S Procedures in a Manufacturing Environment
  • MSACMS201A – Sustain Process Improvements

When our customers order Christmas cards overprinted with their company details, they can select from a range of cards offered by Charity Greeting Cards. In 2008, they donated $358,000 to charities on behalf of the businesses who support them.
