BPG Acquires NCP

ncp-logoOn 1st July, 2011, BPG acquired Newcastle’s largest printing company, NCP Printing. Commencing over 35 years ago, NCP, also known as Newcastle Camera Print, has been providing print services to many of Newcastle’s major corporations since its commencement. Today it continues to offer comprehensive print services having continued to grow and expand with the Newcastle market.

BPG is pleased to have secured the business of NCP Printing, which itself had acquired some historically significant companies within the printing industry; companies such as Rossprint, which commenced in 1862, and JB Waldegrave which commenced in 1893. As a result of these acquisitions NCP had a presence in the Sydney market, with offices and a warehouse at North Parramatta, as well as the principle manufacturing facility at Newcastle West.

Both sites at Wetherill Park and Newcastle will continue to operate, with no changes at all to either production team. In fact, it is anticipated that the ability to collaborate and share resources between the teams will lead to even greater efficiencies and innovative solutions for our vast client base.

NCP Printing has traditionally been very active in the packaging industry, and has invested heavily in superior packaging technology over the years. BPG clients will now benefit from that investment. Similarly BPG has invested considerably in new technology including our 10 colour Komori, bindery equipment and digital presses, which will be offered to NCP clients.

The combination of two superior printing sites, with experienced production teams, augers well for the group, our clients, and suppliers. BPG/NCP can now efficiently provide print services to a greater array of clients up and down the eastern seaboard.

In addition, our commitment to environmentally sustainable practices continues with both sites FSC accredited.

BPG Achieves ISO 12647 Accreditation

BPG are proud to announce its certification to the international colour standard ISO 12647.

The certification has been awarded after many of months of collaboration, including valuable R&D, spanning our prepress and press room. Financial investment in ISO enabling technology was also made in both departments. The investment included the purchase of the Pressview Colour Management System.

iso_12647_certificate_webPressview is a comprehensive colour management system designed to achieve and maintain colour standards across multiple printing presses and proofing devices. For the tech heads, Pressview uses spectrophotometers to measure CILEB* values to determine absolute colour. The CIELAB* is a colour mapping system designed to accurately plot any and all colours in the spectrum.

All of our proofing devices have been recalibrated to conform to ISO 12647-7. Rigorous testing of our plates, as well as printability tests on our presses were conducted. Many months of trials and modifications were undertaken on the ink that we used to obtain standard ink film densities.

The result is a print manufacturing facility that can guarantee the colour that it reproduces is ‘ correct’. Each time a proof is produced, we use Pressview to measure the LAB values of a control strip printed onto each proof. Provided the measurements fall within the stringent parameters, a label is then printed to indicate compliance..

Once your proof is approved and the plates released for printing, the press operator must ensure the colour is reproduced exactly on the press. This is achieved by the use of Pressview to measure LAB values of a colour bar on the printed press sheet. The results are displayed on a monitor that gives the operator instant feedback as to colour accuracy.

slide08_dataIn our quest to continually strive for colour reproduction supremacy and accuracy, the implementation of ISO 12647 at Wetherill Park, is proof of our commitment to world best standards. For our clients it means absolute confidence in our ability to produce print media to a broadly accepted international standard. A standard that ensures predictable colour across every output device and press at our Wetherill Park site. It also means for our international clients, that they can be assured the job they produce in Australia at our site, will match the job that they need produced anywhere else in the world, provided the printing company is not only ISO 12647 certified, but has ensured continual compliance to these stringent standards.

The BPG Industry Survey

treasure-chest.jpgThe Bright Print Group has commenced an ambitious project to survey as many individuals who source or manage printed products as possible. The survey is part of an elaborate “box” system designed to showcase the range of possibilities with print.

If you would like to be a part of our survey and receive your “box” of goodies just send us an email and let us know. Not only will you be helping us to better understand your needs, but you will be enabling us to help the needs of others less fortunate. BPG will donate $10 for every survey completed to one of four chosen charities – you get to choose which one!

The “box” contains the information to the online survey link. It will take less than 5 minutes of your time, but by helping us, we can help others.
